NYPD Calls Attendance at 35th Anniversary of La Gran Parada Dominicana del Bronx a “Sea of ​​Spectators”

Bronx, New York: The New York Police Department (NYPD) described attendance at the 35th anniversary of La Gran Parada Dominicana del Bronx, held on July 28, 2024, as a true “sea of ​​spectators.” Community leader, founder and executive director of the nonprofit La Gran Parada Dominicana del Bronx, Felipe Febles, praised the work of the NYPD, led by Commissioner Edward Caban, and his team headed by Assistant Chief Benjamin Gurley, Commanding Officer of the Bronx – 48th Precinct, along with his team, including Anthony J. Mascia, Commanding Officer, and Nancy Ramos, Detective Officer among others.

Felipe Febles described the work done by the officers as excellent, highlighting their crucial role in ensuring the safety of the event. In a message posted on social media X and Instagram, the NYPD reported: “Today was a vibrant celebration of Dominican tradition at the Annual Dominican Day Parade in the Bronx! Amidst the sea of ​​spectators were your dedicated police officers, who were along the parade route, ensuring the safety of everyone.” 

Febles expressed his gratitude to the NYPD and especially to the Bronx precincts, stating: “They did an excellent job and we are very grateful. Their integration into our parade for security and order guaranteed its success.  This year, at the 35th anniversary celebration, we had a record attendance at the Grand Concourse and that fills us with pride, especially knowing that the activity was under the security of the NYPD. Thank you all, you are also part of The Great Dominican Parade of the Bronx.”

 The Dominican community turned out massively, with flags in hand, to support this event that has become a symbol of identity and cohesion. Felipe Febles managed to make history with an attendance of more than 800 thousand people, in addition to those who followed the event through traditional media and digital platforms.

 The parade featured an impressive variety of floats, Diablos Cojuelos, artists, influencers, batton ballet, and cultural, sports, religious, political, elected and community groups. This event not only celebrates Dominican culture, but also strengthens community ties, highlighting the richness and diversity of the community.

The Great Dominican Parade of the Bronx is an annual event that highlights the rich cultural heritage and roots of the Dominican community in New York. During this parade, the patriotic symbols, music, typical dances and traditions of the Dominican Republic are proudly displayed, uniting various sectors of the community, including artists, community leaders, politicians, and cultural and religious groups.
