Nueva York: “Yubo Fernández: Metáforas que galopan en su arte” fue presentado con gran éxito la noche del 3 de abril de 2025 en la prestigiosa Hispanic Society Museum and Library de Nueva York, cautivando a un público diverso, amante del arte y orgulloso de sus raíces. Esta obra literaria y visual, escrita por el destacado historiador y crítico de arte Cándido Gerón, explora el universo estético de la reconocida artista dominicana Yubo Fernández, una figura clave del arte contemporáneo en constante evolución.
Durante la velada, se destacó el respaldo de la Dominican Heritage and Culture Society Foundation (DHCS), organización que no solo reconoció el talento de Yubo Fernández, sino que también fue la responsable de hacer posible la llegada de esta obra a Nueva York como parte de su misión de promover el arte dominicano en la diáspora.
La presidenta de DHCS, Fresia Olivero Momani, expresó con emoción:
“Nos sentimos profundamente orgullosos de haber traído a Nueva York esta joya artística. Metáforas que galopan en su arte es un testimonio visual de nuestra herencia, de la sensibilidad y el poder creativo de Yubo Fernández. A través de sus obras, podemos sentir cómo las emociones galopan en cada trazo. Esta noche fue una celebración de su talento y del compromiso que tenemos como fundación para seguir impulsando la cultura dominicana dondequiera que estemos.”
Olivero Momani agradeció al Centro Cívico Cultural Dominicano (CCCD) por su participación conjunta en la organización del evento y prometió seguir colaborando con el centro en futuros programas en favor de la comunidad.
Por su parte, la artista Yubo Fernández, visiblemente conmovida, compartió sus palabras con los asistentes:
“Presentar este libro en Nueva York, en un espacio tan icónico, es un sueño hecho realidad. Estoy agradecida por la extraordinaria acogida del público, por su calidez, sus palabras, su energía. Gracias infinitas a la Dominican Heritage and Culture Society por reconocer mi arte, por creer en esta visión y traerla a este escenario que abraza nuestra cultura. Esta noche no la olvidaré jamás.”
El evento fue conducido por el Dr. Manuel Acevedo del Centro Cívico Cultural Dominicano (CCCD), quien fungió como maestro de ceremonias y presentó a los distinguidos participantes de la noche:
- Mencia Figueroa, Directora de Relaciones Públicas, Programas y Eventos Especiales de la Hispanic Society Museum and Library (HSML). En su lugar habló Natalie Espino, Directora de Educación, Programas Académicos y Vinculación Comunitaria, quien destacó la importancia del evento cultural.
- Lisandra Ramos, Directora Ejecutiva del CCCD e hija de la recordada líder comunitaria Dra. Mariluz D. Galván, fundadora del CCCD. Ramos destacó los aportes de su madre durante más de 60 años en favor de la juventud, los adultos mayores y la promoción del arte y la cultura popular dominicana.
- Dra. Carmen Lazala, miembro del consejo directivo de DHCS.
- Cándido Gerón, historiador y crítico de arte, autor del libro.
Este evento marcó un momento histórico para el arte dominicano, al presentar una obra tan significativa como Metáforas que galopan en su arte en un museo dedicado al servicio de la comunidad. Fue un encuentro de cultura, orgullo e identidad, donde los distinguidos expositores resaltaron el valor del arte como herramienta de conexión y legado, celebrando a una artista que eleva la esencia dominicana a través de sus creaciones.
La parte artística y musical de la noche estuvo a cargo de Adam Vásquez, presidente de la Asociación de Artistas Clásicos Dominicanos, quien aportó un toque especial al evento, llenando el espacio de armonía y emoción con su talento.
La celebración no se detiene con el lanzamiento del libro. El público podrá disfrutar de la próxima exposición “Cigua Palmera”, del 10 al 12 de abril en 545 W 23rd St, Chelsea, NYC. Esta muestra presentará 30 piezas inéditas que combinan naturaleza, simbolismo y la identidad cultural dominicana, con la cigua palmera (ave nacional) como eje de inspiración.
La noche cerró entre aplausos, brindis y el firme compromiso de seguir apoyando a los artistas dominicanos en escenarios internacionales. Sin duda, “Metáforas que galopan en su arte” es más que un libro: es una voz que conecta generaciones, emociones y culturas.

New York: “Yubo Fernández: Metaphors That Gallop in Her Art” was successfully presented on the evening of April 3, 2025, at the prestigious Hispanic Society Museum and Library in New York City, captivating a diverse audience of art lovers proud of their roots. This literary and visual work, written by renowned historian and art critic Cándido Gerón, explores the aesthetic universe of acclaimed Dominican artist Yubo Fernández, a key figure in the ever-evolving contemporary art scene.
The event highlighted the support of the Dominican Heritage and Culture Society Foundation (DHCS), an organization that not only recognized Yubo Fernández’s talent but also made it possible for the book to reach New York as part of its mission to promote Dominican art in the diaspora.
The president of DHCS, Fresia Olivero Momani, expressed her excitement:

“Presenting this book in New York, in such an iconic space, is a dream come true. I am grateful for the extraordinary reception from the public—for their warmth, their words, their energy. Infinite thanks to the Dominican Heritage and Culture Society for recognizing my art, for believing in this vision, and bringing it to this stage that embraces our culture. I will never forget this night.”
The event was hosted by Dr. Manuel Acevedo of the Dominican Civic and Cultural Center (CCCD), who served as Master of Ceremonies and introduced the distinguished guests of the evening:
- Mencia Figueroa, Director of Public Relations, Special Programs, and Events at the Hispanic Society Museum and Library (HSML). In her place, Natalie Espino, Director of Education, Academic Programs, and Community Engagement, spoke and highlighted the cultural importance of the event.
- Lisandra Ramos, Executive Director of the CCCD and daughter of the late community leader Dr. Mariluz D. Galván, founder of the CCCD. Ramos acknowledged her mother’s contributions to Dominican popular culture and youth development over more than 60 years, as well as her work with seniors and various cultural sectors.
- Dr. Carmen Lazala, member of DHCS’s board of directors.
- Cándido Gerón, historian, art critic, and author of the book.
This event marked a historic moment for Dominican art by showcasing such a meaningful work as Metaphors That Gallop in Her Art in a museum devoted to community engagement. It was a gathering of culture, pride, and identity, where the distinguished speakers emphasized the power of art as a tool for connection and legacy, celebrating the talent of Yubo Fernández, an artist who elevates our essence through her art.
The artistic and musical portion of the night was led by Adam Vásquez, President of the Association of Dominican Classical Artists, who brought a special touch to the evening with his talent, filling the space with harmony and emotion.
The celebration doesn’t end with the book launch. The public is invited to attend the upcoming exhibition “Cigua Palmera”, taking place from April 10 to 12 at 545 W 23rd St, Chelsea, NYC. The exhibition will feature 30 never-before-seen works that blend nature, symbolism, and cultural identity, inspired by the cigua palmera, the national bird of the Dominican Republic.
