Successful and Extraordinary First Presentation of the Itinerant Parade of Faceless Dolls During the NY Latin Food Festival Celebrating Hispanic Heritage

With great pride and enthusiasm, the Dominican USA Chamber of Commerce, under the leadership of Mrs. Elida Almonte, and the Dominican Taste Festival have presented for the first time in New York City the itinerant parade of faceless dolls, a Dominican cultural manifestation that left an indelible mark on the celebration of Hispanic Heritage.

The event, held over two consecutive days, was an extraordinary display of the rich and diverse Dominican culture, attracting the admiration of more than 30,000 attendees. Mrs. Almonte expressed her deep gratitude to her collaborator, Mr. Shalma, director of Harlem Market, for the opportunity to work together, as well as to the talented team of artists led by the extraordinary plastic artist from Santiago, Francisco Jiménez. She highlighted the presence and commitment of Esteban Guillé, artistic director of the illustrators, who brilliantly interpreted the project’s description made by its founder. The participation of business and community leader Lady Laura Fernández was also notable, as she embraced this challenge with love and determination to see it through. Thanks are extended to the dedication of painters such as Ana Burgos, Liliana Castillo, Emely Matias, and Professor Edward Reyes, a Puerto Rican brother who lovingly lent his talent and knowledge to the project. Mrs. Almonte also highlighted the support of her sons, Arismendy and Eddie, and the operational team led by Michael Peralta, Radhames García, and Evelin Polanco. A special thanks goes to the media outlets Zabala Al Día, El Pregonero, and Últimasnoticias.com for their exceptional support. Everyone did an outstanding job.

The event received the backing of prominent figures such as Congressman Adriano Espaillat and overseas deputy Cirilo Moronta, who collaborated in making this celebration possible. Mrs. Almonte also expressed special gratitude to God for allowing this dream to become a reality.

This occasion showcased the emblematic provinces of the Dominican diaspora: La Altagracia, Montecristi, and Santiago. Additionally, faceless dolls with unique folkloric expressions were exhibited, capturing the attention and amazement of all attendees.

This event not only celebrated Dominican culture but also served as a platform to strengthen community ties and promote cultural diversity in New York City. Almonte reaffirmed her commitment to continue working to bring more Dominican cultural expressions to the Big Apple and thanked all participants and collaborators for their dedication and support.
